Ephesus is blessed with many seniors who are well represented in almost every activity of the church, including worship,  Adult Bible study classes (Sunday School, 9:15-10:15 Sunday mornings) and small groups meeting in homes. Sunday evening worship/Bible study and Wednesday night Prayer Meeting are excellent opportunities for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry. Our Homebound Ministry is led by senior adults and is a marvelous way to serve the Lord and fellow church members.
The Happy Wanderers
A special opportunity for seniors is our Happy Wanderers group. This group is noted for their breakfast meetings every Monday morning at Hardee’s with a special lunch at D&S Cafeteria on the third Monday with their monthly Business Meeting prior to the meal at the church. This group has a list of trips that they take every year, including The Fruit Cake Factory, the Christmas lights at Meadow, and of course a meal at the famous Meadow Restaurant. Occasionally, the Happy Wanderers offer longer day trips to museums, performances, or other points of special interest. They also attend several Adult Rallies sponsored by the Raleigh Baptist Association and various local churches. This group is always on the move!
Senior Adult Day
The seniors plan and conduct the 10:30 am Worship service on the day designated as Senior Adult Day. Seniors lead in music, prayer, speaking, and testimony.
Senior’s Christmas Lunch
The Bertha Maynard Class decorates the Fellowship Hall and the Myrtle Cook Class serves a delicious meal for all Seniors, complete with Christmas music and an inspiring program.
From January through May, the senior adult women gather on Tuesdays to quilt. Our main goal is to provide fellowship time but some of these marvelous creations are donated to the church for auction to raise money for Missions.
