Pastor's Corner

November contains my favorite holiday — Thanksgiving Day! All this month, it's natural for us to reflect on God's amazing grace in Christ Jesus and to count all His many blessings!

It is difficult to focus on just one or two such blessings. But because November also features Veterans Day, it's a wonderful time to thank God for the blessing of the men and women of our armed services, as well as their families, who serve this nation in sacrificial ways. To help us, I've invited a good friend, Colonel Dudley Neal, United States Army Chaplain, stationed at Fort Bragg, to come and speak in the 11:00 service on the 16th.

Dudley is a veteran of Gulf Storm as well as the current war in Iraq. He was the pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church near Roseboro, while I was pastor of Roseboro First Baptist. In addition, his wife Diane was the secretary of RFBC during my tenure there!

Along with Dudley Neal being here the 16th to help us honor our veterans, we also want to thank God for those in this church family who are currently serving or who have family members serving. Sam Sanchez is deployed as an active Naval Reservist near Williamsburg, VA. Anthony Mosley recently returned from a second stint in Iraq and is stationed at New River Marine Base in Jacksonville, NC. Mark Christian is deployed to Afghanistan as an active Air Force Reservist.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: ...but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant... (Philippians 2:5, 7 NIV).

Live it!,
Pastor Greg
