Greg Templin

Senior Pastor

Hi! I'm Greg Templin, a native of Lake City, Tennessee, near Knoxville — GO VOLS! GO BIG ORANGE! Yes, I am a bit partial to the University of Tennessee athletic programs, but I love to cheer for the local triangle teams, too — as long as they're not playing UT! My wife, Stella, is also from Knoxville, and we were married in June 1986. God has extravagantly blessed us with two sons — Tyler (19), and Blake (17). I like to sing, strum my old guitar, crank up the sound system to contemporary Christian music, shoot hoops, hike, camp, read Tom Clancy novels, and eat! I attended Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas (home of big cows and tumbleweeds), and then completed my Master's degree at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky (home of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat and Cassius Clay — or Mohammed Ali). It's been my honor and pleasure to be the senior pastor at Ephesus Baptist Church since November 1999, having served as pastor of Roseboro (NC) First Baptist Church since January 1994. I follow two great men of God, Lonnie Woolweaver and Les Giles, who between them pastored here almost 50 years! What a joy it is to work along side the most gifted and godly ministry staff of any church in the triangle area — Donna Thomas and Kevin Fleegle! Together, we focus on our primary mission of helping every member of this congregation discover their God-given gifts and equipping them to use those gifts in a variety of ministries. My prayer for all who read this is found in one of my life's verses, actually several verses, from Ephesians 3:16-19 (The Message Translation): "I ask him [God] to strengthen you by his spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all Christians the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test the length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God." In Christ's Love, Pastor Greg
